You are receiving this notification because you have one or multiple VPS services located at the following location: "Germany"
If you followed us on social media, you may be aware that we were planning to close out our VPS offering in Germany. In anticipation of this change, we expanded our offerings to the beautiful land of tulips, The Netherlands, earlier this year. If you have an active VPS service in our Germany location, please note, you will be migrated to The Netherlands. (Looking glass: Nexus Bytes Looking Glass: Netherlands - Looking Glass)
We have scheduled your server to be migrated on January 15th, 2022, therefore we are notifying all clients on that server of the pending migration so you can be aware of the changes and be prepared.
Please note: This doesn't impact shared/reseller hosting family members (as of yet).
Why are we migrating that server?
As you may have been aware, we do not have much control over our Germany region, when it comes to backend infrastructure, that powers our VPS line up there. As we continue to improve and expand our offerings, it is more crucial than ever to ensure, we have the right resource and control over how we handle our business and ensure our family members continues to receive the best bang for the bucks and also vendors, who will actually treat us like a business partner and not just "yet another customer".
They have been a decent upstream and a very affordable one for us for a very long time. However, it is time to move on :)
How long will the migration take?
The length of time until completion depends on the amount of data being transferred, however, each migration should take approximately 60 minutes from start to finish. Storage servers could take couple of hours for each if not more.
What is Changing?
Server location and your IP address. All the benefits and specs will remain the same. Including promotional pricings. On the plus side, IPv6, finally (please pop in a ticket)!
I do not want to be migrated!
We understand that, for many reasons, migrating to the Netherlands, instead of staying in Germany is beneficial to you. To be honest, we didn't want to migrate either. However, we stopped offering new premium VPS services there for quite sometimes (more than a year) and our userbase there continues to shrink as we have hoped for. At this point, it is not cost efficient for us to continue operating our premium VPS lineup there and neither do we feel confident enough to continue working with someone to whom, we are just a number.
If you have renewed your services in Germany for Premium Ryzen VPS or Storage VPs with in the last 30 days, you are eligible for pro-rated refund. Please open a ticket under billing department to request your early cancelation and refund. This must be done no later than December 31st, 2021, 5:00 pm (EST). Any refund requests after that will not be honored.
Can I choose another location?
If you are on a promotional plan, sadly, you can't :(. Otherwise, definitely. Pop a ticket under sales and we will get you sorted asap!
What will be transferred?
VPS will be fully/completely transferred as-is. All login information will remain the same excluding your IP address, which we will email you. However, as always, We strongly recommend creating a personal offsite backup of your data.
Can I continue to work on my server?
Beginning on the day the server is scheduled for migration, you should refrain from making any changes to your current account/server as those changes/updates may not be transferred to the new server and be permanently lost. You should notice a small downtime during the migration period.
